Marsha Craft

Wayward Sentinel

an American artist

Marsha Craft was born & raised a Kansan, dedicated to creative & performative arts. She earned a degree in theatrical stage design from Kansas State University, then went on to pursue a career in scenic art. Craft worked her way into the film industry, spending eight years as a union set painter & signwriter in Hollywood.

Even as she painted Craft was writing songs, compulsively. That passion for songwriting brought her to open mics in both Austin & Los Angeles, bringing opportunities to meet & share voice memos of her work with industry professionals in LA and Austin. These texted demos turned into gigs around Los Angeles and Austin Texas notably The White Horse, Echo Park Rising, Saxon Pub, Desert Five Spot, The Escondite, Jester King Brewery and The Grand Ole Echo.

While on the job set painting for NCIS: Origins, Craft brought her guitar onto the Paramount lot to play a few songs for co-workers on their newly constructed bar set. Afterward, a carpenter looked at her & said, “You’re on the wrong side of the camera.” Something about that hit a nerve &  changed everything.

That moment of reflection led her to realize it was time to plant roots somewhere new, & there was no doubt: Austin, Texas was the place to explore her sound. Because if it’s not good music in Texas—then it’s not music at all.

Go Find A Cowboy!

"Go find a cowboy, he’s the one who understands; Go find a cowboy, how to really be a man. Those tight wrangler’s don’t hide a thing, his ford is fast, and his mustang’s mean.
Go find a cowboy!"

Pioneer

“In my final hour, the sun has hung it's head; I lay mine in the dirt and dream of my homestead. I'll make it to the stars, through all difficulty, I am a pioneer such is the life I lead.”

1976 Stingray Corvette

“all it took was a bump off a vintage set of silver corvette keys, that bandit drives a stingray and he’s liking what he sees!”
